Neighborhood Stuff
The sold-out premier of Hank’s Saloon: The Movie will be held at the Prospect Park Nitehawk on January 26. The filmmaker and Hank’s regular Leon Chase has finagled a second screening with a few tickets available as of this writing. The doc follows the bar’s final months while diving into the history of the building (saloon, speakeasy, Mohawk ironworker hangout, crack-era safe haven, neighborhood old man bar, indie music venue). Here’s an interview about it from the Red Hook Star Revue (always grab the local paper).
After a few months of pop-ups and pop-ins, Anaïs is re-opening their daytime service starting Monday the 19th. Head over to grab some coffee/tea/pastries in the AM and sandwiches/toasts/snacks at lunch. Support good neighborhood spots as well as those who make neighborhoods good.

While it’s good that people are going out and are broadly re-realizing that pubs are great (see also: aging trend writers presenting their age 30-50 preferences as what is “in”), maybe tell the G-splitting tiktoker in your life to chill out at bit. Shoutout to the 4th Ave Pub and Brooklyn Inn.
