The Week
September 15
Fun Stuff
The Ace Hotel has gone from one bad restaurant to two good ones: Lele’s Roman and the 14-seat Sushi Koju.
The Atlantic Antic is fast approaching, stretching from Hicks to 4th Avenue on October 5th rain or shine.
Wholesome: send your shiftless teens to the Pacific library to play videogames with their friends IRL.
Tickets for the next Transit Museum nostalgia ride up to Woodlawn in a WWI-era IRT Lo-V are still available.
Something for everyone at the Bellhouse this week. From a D&D podcast/Dropout TV cast member’s movie premier/variety show; to a niche social media account that satirizes lower Manhattan scene kids partnering with the Subway Takes guy to put on…a variety show.
Civic Stuff
Annual Fort Greene Park User Survey closes on the 30th.
If you want the lowdown on the huge proposed development at 395 Flatbush Extension, here's the presentation and it will be discussed at the full meeting of Community Board 2 at St. Francis College on Wednesday the 17th at 6:00pm. The meeting as always will be livestreamed.
The community board is evaluating a pilot underway in Manhattan requiring residential buildings with 30+ units to use larger garbage bins rather than fleets of 55-gallon trash cans. A lot more people live here now, which means hundreds to thousands of tons of additional refuse.
NYC Service is recruiting their next cohort of NYC Civic Corps members. Members serve full-time at City agencies and nonprofits and receive a $24,500 stipend, Unlimited MetroCard, and healthcare. Apply now.
The NY State Unified Court System is holding their second annual Civic Essay Contest for high schoolers. Participants must propose and defend a Constitutional amendment that the original framers could not have anticipated. Begins September 25.
National Voter Registration Day is Tuesday the 16th. Register for the first time, or confirm your registration status.
