The Week
December 2 (whoops)
Fun Stuff
For actually, literally unique gifts: The Holiday Market at NYC Resistor will be Sunday, December 14. They’re also having a Flat Market (two dimensional things) on December 20.
Honest, not sponsored review of A Local Thing: bags from Lindquist Object.
High quality leather, hardware, stitching, and overall craftsmanship. The price (not cheap) of the goods relative to the materials and the labor required to make something like this is very reasonable.
To channel Tanner Leatherstein briefly: this is a domestic brand small and new enough that a relentless focus on quality can be an effective brand strategy, as opposed to vibes and marketing. These bags are a fraction of the cost of big luxury names—but you aren’t sacrificing much, if anything, in terms of quality or design.
Something for everyone at the Paramount this week. The Raekwon and Mobb Deep 30th anniversary, however, is specifically for me.
See Saturday Night Fever and Risky Business in 35mm at the Alamo Drafthouse this week.
Dosa Royale is open in their new location over in Fort Greene
Comedy and podcasts continue at The Bellhouse through the end of the year
Nets ticket prices continue to slide commensurate with their standing in the Eastern Conference, and if you want tickets to Lorde you should probably snap them up soon at Barclays.
BAM is getting a new public art piece from Hank Willis Thomas (he did the pointing arm on Tillary). Neat.
Civic Stuff
New Ferry Map effective December 8. The Atlantic Ave terminal at Pier 6 will have direct access to midtown, (nice if something happens at Borough Hall I guess?) but the interesting thing for us IMO is a direct line to Staten Island. It will probably be a shorter trip to a FerryHawks game and some Sri Lankan than the Mets or Cyclones. (still no ferry service to LGA/Willits Point).
Ace Hotel and Pocket of Joy are accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys for children ages 10-14, to benefit the families of The Coy L. Cox School (P369K). Drop off at Ace Hotel Brooklyn or donate online through the Wish List.
Brooklyn Museum’s Toy Drive also continues through the 13th.
CM Restler Toy Drive:

The reaction to an influencer-centric holiday market with a cover charge where one can “Join fellow locals, young professionals, and holiday lovers” has been swift and predictable. (lol @ 7Santasdeep)
Transit Stuff
The MTA is doing a survey about the new cars on the A,C, and G.
Track replacements and repairs on the A/C line over night (11:45-5:00am) most days until mid-December. Queensbound will skip most of lower Manhattan and High street, so express for us!
